EMMBRA

This project is a compilation of compositions by Brazilian women active in the country’s instrumental music scene.

Today, as we remain a silenced and minoritized majority, we feel the concrete and urgent need to document and materialize our existence and our voices.

Scores are also statements—sonic narratives that need to resonate and, urgently, be heard. When only a tiny fraction of work in the instrumental music scene is created by women, a book of sheet music—an object with the potential to connect—can be a powerful tool in the movement for gender equity in music, and a heartfelt, compelling invitation to those who wish to listen to voices that will no longer be silenced.
