A turbulent ocean that covers one-third of the planet yet bears the name “Pacific” carries within it the contradiction that stirs the peoples of the southern side of this continent.
This is the inspiration behind the compositions of the first solo album by instrumentalist and composer Aline Gonçalves.
WHO IS ALINE?
Aline Gonçalves is a flutist, clarinetist, arranger, and composer.
She is currently working on her solo album and is a member of the group El Efecto. She was a founding member of Itiberê Orquestra Família for six years and recorded on its first two albums: Pedra do Espia and Calendário do Som. In 2002, she recorded on Mundo Verde Esperança by Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo.
From 2005 to 2007, she lived in Chile, where she developed the award-winning project Verdevioleta – Creations Inspired by the Music of Violeta Parra and gained a deep connection with Latin American music. In 2017, together with fellow musician-activists, she founded the collective Essa Mulher, dedicated to promoting women’s musical production in Rio de Janeiro.
